Preview and test
Preview is where the project becomes a playable story. Use it throughout creation rather than waiting until every scene is finished.
Test in small loops
Preview after each meaningful change:
- a new choice;
- a changed branch condition;
- a new ending;
- a media timing change;
- a language update; or
- a different portrait crop.
Small test loops make it easier to identify which edit caused a problem.
Start fresh when testing branches
Story values can change during a playthrough. Start a fresh playthrough before checking another route so an earlier choice does not affect the result.
For every branch, record:
| Check | Expected result |
|---|---|
| Entry choice | The intended route begins. |
| Story values | Later choices reflect earlier decisions. |
| Locked choices | A useful reason is visible. |
| Media | The correct image, voice, music, and sound appear. |
| Ending | The route finishes at the intended outcome. |
Review every language
Text length changes between languages. Check the portrait frame, choice buttons, speaker names, and ending copy in every published language.
Keep a release checklist
Before publishing:
- every intended route reaches an ending;
- no scene is unreachable by mistake;
- the longest dialogue fits;
- media has an approved version;
- each language has been reviewed; and
- a complete playthrough works from a fresh start.
