Create your first interactive experience

This guide uses a small interactive story to take an empty project to a playable result. It is the most complete Vifu workflow today.

1. Create the project

Open Vifu, use the project menu, and choose Create project. Give the project a story title. Vifu creates its project address automatically.

Open Short Drama after the project is ready.

2. Set the frame

Choose a portrait frame for a mobile short drama:

text
9:16
1080 x 1920

The frame controls how the editor and preview present each scene. Original media remains unchanged, so you can adjust its crop and fit later.

3. Add three scenes

Create a beginning, a decision, and an ending:

ScenePurpose
ArrivalIntroduce the place, main character, and immediate problem.
DecisionAsk the player to choose between two meaningful actions.
ResultShow how the selected action changes the ending.

Give every scene a short title and one clear story purpose.

4. Add the cast and dialogue

Create the speaking characters needed by these scenes. Add only the information the audience should understand:

  • display name;
  • role in the story;
  • visual identity;
  • speaking style; and
  • what the character wants in the current scene.

Place dialogue inside the scene where it is spoken.

5. Add a choice

Add two options to the decision scene. Connect each option to a different result. The choice should change what the player sees, not merely change one line of dialogue.

Use Story Flow to confirm that both routes reach an ending.

6. Add media

Add a background to each scene, then place character art, voice, music, and sound where they help the story. Media is optional while drafting, so finish the story structure before polishing every asset.

Read Build the experience for framing, timing, languages, and larger casts.

7. Preview every route

Open Preview & QA and start from the beginning. Test both choices from a fresh playthrough and confirm:

  • every scene appears in the intended order;
  • dialogue fits the portrait frame;
  • both choices can be selected;
  • each route reaches the correct ending; and
  • media starts and stops at the intended moment.

Read Preview and test before publishing a larger project.

8. Publish or export

Publish a version when the story is ready to share. Export a .vf file when you need an editable backup or want to move the project to another Vifu installation.

Continue with Publish and export.
